Vaccination
Below is a list the recommended vaccines for beef and dairy herds.
Calves
- 2-12 weeks:
Virus pneumonia
Blackleg and other clostridial diseases
Lungworm (Husk)
Ringworm
Calves should be vaccinated before periods of high risk i.e. before housing and before 1st turnout. High risk farms should also give cattle a booster vaccination before 2nd turnout.
Heifers and cows
- IBR
- BVD
- Leptospirosis
- Salmonella
- Bluetongue
Heifers should be vaccinated twice before 1st service and before entering the main herd.
Cows should receive an annual booster vaccination.
Herds with a high risk of IBR should vaccinate the cows twice yearly with the IBR vaccine.
