Since March 2015 it is compulsory to have your pet micro-chipped in order to provide them with a permanent means of identification

Microchipping is easy. A tiny microchip, approximately the size of a grain of rice, is inserted under your pets skin. This chip gives your pet its unique and permanent number. The number and owner details are then added to a national database, so if lost and found your pet can then be scanned, identified and returned to you. Collars and tags can be removed or damaged. The sad truth is that thousands of pets are lost each year, and without permanent identification many are never able to be returned to their owner.
